Honey Sweetened Classic Lemonade

Honey Sweetened Classic Lemonade

Lemonade is the quintessential summer drink. Pretty sure I haven’t gone one summer without having at least one glass of lemonade. Sure you could just go to the store and buy lemonade that’s already made or even the instant drink packets. In Comparison, though fresh-squeezed lemonade wins every time. This honey-sweetened classic lemonade is a definite winner.

I have a funny story about how I came to love fresh-squeezed lemonade. It started in middle school with my school’s field day. This was one day out of the year where the whole school would split into colored groups. So like yellow, red, blue, and so on. We would then go to this park dressed head to toe in your group color then compete in various games. I believe one year it got rained out so we just did it in our school gym. One of the games did was to make lemonade in our mouths. The designated person from each group had to put each ingredient in their mouths. You would then jump up and down to mix then swallow. I vaguely remember being surprised that it tasted really good. I’ve loved fresh lemonade ever since.

Ingredients

While the classic fresh-squeezed lemonade is delicious and refreshing the mountains of sugar put into it is not healthy. That’s why I came up with this super simple, super delicious honey-sweetened classic lemonade. To make only takes 3 ingredients:

  • Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • Water
  • Raw Unprocessed Honey

You may be asking why raw unprocessed honey? I did some research on healthier sugar alternatives. Basically, the honey you get at your local supermarket is not what it seems. Due to it being processed it loses its nutritional value. It’s therefore no better for you the regular table sugar. Now I am in no way claiming to be a health professional. I am also not claiming that what I am saying is 100% fact. When it comes to sugar alternatives I however prefer Really Raw Honey. This honey is raw, unprocessed, and maintains all goodness that bees put into it. It is a little pricey but I believe its worth every penny.

Items You’ll Need

Making this lemonade is super simple but there’s a few items you’ll need to gather first:

  • 1 Gallon Pitcher
  • Citrus Juicer
  • Measuring glass
  • Large spoon for stirring
  • Measuring Cups

This lemonade is a constant in my house. Its made no matter the season. More than anything it’s my go-to summer drink. Once you’ve tried it I know it will be yours too. As always if you make this be sure to tag me on social media and use the hashtag #thehealthyishspork.
