How to Make the Pasta
Begin by measuring out all your ingredients. Once everything is measured cook the pasta according to box directions. After it has finished cooking set aside the pasta in a large bowl or the bowl that you plan on storing it in. Begin cooking chicken by first add oil to the pan on the stove at medium-high heat. Coat both chicken breasts in olive oil and your seasonings. Place the chicken in the pan and cook on each side. Remove chicken from the stove and set aside to cool while you make the sauce.
Start by melting your butter in a large pot on the stove at medium-high heat. Once melted add flour slowly while at the same same time whisking till all the flour and butter is combined. Slowly add milk as you continue to whisk thoroughly till all milk in the pan and mixture is smooth with no lumps. Continue to whisk as the mixture begins to thicken. Once the mixture has thickened add pesto, salt, and pepper. Whisk until combined and let the mixture simmer for a couple more minutes. Also, keep in mind that the sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
Set sauce aside and cut the chicken breast into cubes and add to the bowl with the pasta. Pour sauce over chicken and pasta and stir until everything is completely coated.
